Proposal At Riverside Park

Photographing Devin and Chloe’s Riverside Park proposal was an honor. This special moment was years in the making! Devin decided to purchase Chloe’s ring earlier this year, but because of the pandemic, the delivery was delayed. It was a custom design especially for her! *Funny side story, Chloe actually spotted her custom ring on Instagram and sent it to Devin as a hint. Little did she know that it was her ring!*

The ring arrived, and Devin could not wait to pop the question! He and Chloe are from Iowa, and planned an impromptu trip to La Crosse for the weekend. Devin knew he wanted this special moment photographed, so he Googled photographers and found me!

The Proposal

I gave Devin some recommendations for things to do and places to propose. He decided on Riverside Park. The weather was absolutely gorgeous. It was a sunny autumn afternoon in La Crosse. I texted with Devin while he and Chloe were out and about touring the town. He was feeling nervous, but mostly just excited!!

I arrived early to the park and cleared out a little section of the International Garden so that they could have privacy. Everyone was happy to leave some space for the couple! As soon as I saw them, I pretended to take photos of flowers and trees. When Devin walked to the bridge, I turned my lens right to them.

He shared some super sweet words to Chloe and pulled out the ring. (It had been hiding in his sock all day!) She was totally shocked and surprised! Of course, she said yes and the celebrating began. Those people that I asked to stay out of the bridge area earlier were all waiting nearby and cheered for the couple!

After I introduced myself to Chloe and congratulated the newly engaged couple, I gave them 10 minutes to just soak it in and spend some time alone. She was still shaking and surprised, so I wanted to make sure she had some more time to just freak out! We joined back up and did a “just engaged” shoot in another part of the park. It was such a sweet session! I loved getting all their giddy and excited emotions captured through photography.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Devin and Chloe, thank you so much for inviting me to be part of your proposal! I had an incredible time watching you get engaged and those sweet celebratory moments afterward. Chloe, your custom ring is absolutely stunning. Great job, Devin! Your love story is so adorable, and you are too! I know life has a lot of amazing things in store for you.
