Wisconsin Engagement Session At Perrot State Park

THE LOCATION

Jess and Adam’s state park engagement session in Perrot state park was a super fun adventure! I had never photographed at the park before so it was a fun new experience! When Jess and I discussed locations for their engagement photos, she was positive she wanted to be surrounded by nature. I love greenery and lots of pretty tall grasses, so I was super excited. She told me all about Perrot Park, one of their favorite places. Jess texted me some photos, and I instantly knew it was going to be a great backdrop for their engagement shoot. Within just a short distance there is water, wildflowers, forestry, trails, and even some brick backdrops. We used a little bit of everything for this session. The park was peaceful and quiet. Jess and Adam were able to get comfortable in front of the camera and just be themselves. The clouds were heavy and we were worried about rain, but everything held off for us. Although there were a few sprinkles, you can’t see rain in any of the photography. In fact, we were even able to add some extra time to this session instead of ending early. Thank you mother nature!

WHO THEY ARE

As I mentioned before, Perrot State Park is one of the couple’s favorite places. This is because they are huge campers, fishermen, and hunters. They absolutely love being outside and doing activities together. It was so interesting to learn all about the fish they catch, and the animals they hunt. (I am FAR from an outdoorsman.) Their eyes lit up as they each bragged to me about how good the other is at their sport. This is who Jess and Adam are – two people that love each other and get excited to be together!

Their personalities have differences, but that’s why they work so well. They each have a partner that balances them out. 🙂 Capturing their love for each other on camera was almost too easy. When they’re snuggled up together their faces light up and they are all giggles! It was super fun to watch them relax and really enjoy their time together. They both did a fantastic job!

WHAT THEY WORE

I send out a style guide to all my clients before their engagement sessions. Jess read through it and took some tips for what to wear. My favorite outfits they selected are pictured below. Jess ordered the cutest feminine, flowy dress with a multi-colored floral pattern. Her heels were also so stinking adorable! They were a lighter neutral color and didn’t distract from the dress or her face at all. There is some height difference between the two, so the heels also helped keep their faces closer together when they were standing.

Jess used one of the lighter colors from her dress for Adam’s shirt. Collared shirts add a touch of sophistication, even in a natural outdoor setting. I loved his brown belt and shoes as well. Those details brought his outfit to the next level!

WHAT THEY ORDERED

When Jess booked her photography package, she added a guestbook and a wedding album right away. Photography is super important to the couple, and they wanted to have a lot of photos all in one nice collection. So, after the engagement session, Jess and Adam picked out their favorite images for their custom guestbook. Jess’s fears came true, she loved the photos too much! I suggested they add on some digital files to get more use out of their images. Digital files can be used for save the dates, wedding websites, social media posts, printing in your home, Christmas cards, and more. This was the perfect solution so that Jess could use her photos over and over.

THE WEDDING

I am so excited for their Celebrations On The River wedding! Their wedding is going to be the perfect summer day, I just know it. That venue is absolutely perfect for them because they spend so much time in nature, and love the water so much. I know the wedding is going to be so super joyful and full of laughter! I work at Celebrations quite often and always have fantastic experiences with their staff and with spots on the property to shoot. (Especially the river at sunset! :))
