Wisconsin Engagement Session At Myrick Park in La Crosse, WI

THE LOCATION

Alex and Adam’s Myrick park engagement session in La Crosse was a beautiful afternoon outdoors! When the couple and I discussed locations for their engagement photos, they were totally open to my suggestions. Since they are getting married at Myrick in the fall, I thought some winter photos in the same locations might be kind of fun! The area looks completely different from season to season. The marsh trails are so gorgeous, and I love going there on long walks or photoshoots.

I knew there would be lots great backgrounds for their engagement shoot. Within just a short distance there is water, wild grasses, a path, and more. We used a little bit of everything for this session. Since it was a bit chilly, I picked some spots that were all close to each other and to the car so we could warm up from time to time. 🙂 It was an overcast day in January, we took our time but made sure to get done before the early winter sunset!

WHO THEY ARE

From the time I met them, I knew I had found some new besties. We hit it off INSTANTLY. They are so hilarious, so down to earth, and have the biggest hearts. Alex and Adam are outgoing and expressed 100% trust in me as their photographer. At the session they listened to all my suggestions and as a result, had a great time! We walked through the park chatting, laughing, and getting to know each other the whole way. I loved watching them treat each other and me with so much kindness and care. Photographing these two was almost too easy. They are so joyous and smiley together! It was a blast watching them relax and interact with each other. 🙂

WHAT THEY WORE

I send out a style guide to all my clients before their engagement sessions. I talk about the value of picking one outfit you love over two outfits that you feel “eh” about. Alex wanted one dress she really loved, and so that’s what she did! Alex talked with her Stitch Fix stylist (Click here for $25 off!)  and had hand-picked items for her shoot. I LOVE the high-low wrap dress. The floral colors popped up against the white winter backdrops. She paired her dress with a cardigan to keep warm. The pieces looked great together.

Photography always looks best with professional hair and makeup. Alex wanted her photos to look amazing, so she hired professionals for her look. Her skin was smooth and flawless; her eyes were soft and romantic! The stylist curled her hair with just the right amount of bounce adding another level of femininity to the ensemble.

Adam layered a quarter zip sweater that coordinated with Alex’s dress. He chose dark khaki pants that dressed him up, but still gave him a level of comfort he wanted. A fresh haircut and shave were the final touches for his look. 🙂

WHAT THEY ORDERED

When we met up for the photo reveal session, the couple was quietly smiling as they watched their slideshow. They had been anxiously awaiting their reveal and so excited! I was so thrilled they loved them all. They jumped right into selecting what they wanted.

They picked their absolute favorite image for a 16×20 canvas to hang in their home. Can you guess which one it is? There were so many other favorites so they purchased a guestbook with 25 more images! Alex is a huge crafter and designed a custom wedding logo that she added to the cover, such a clever way to use the Cricut! Finally, the couple picked a few images to use on their save the date and Christmas cards.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Alex and Adam, thank you so much for choosing me as your engagement and wedding photographer! I am so happy that we met and became such good friends so quickly! I know you will enjoy and cherish all these photos for the years to come. Don’t forget to look back often at them. 🙂 See you soon, guys!!
