MYRICK PARK ECO CENTER | RUSTIC CHIC WEDDING
A long list of words comes to mind when I think back to Alex and Adam’s stunning fall wedding: magical, comfortable, personal, heartfelt. Take your pick, because they all describe what was a beautiful celebration. The day was as perfect as fall weddings get, and the scene mixed in bright leaves and soft, warm colors to liven the pictures. Our day started at Primitive Parlor in La Crosse, where Adam and the guys got their beards and hair trimmed. Levi at Primitive did a great job, and they even surprised Ben with a beard trim of his own!
The wedding was at Myrick Park, where we headed next to capture the intricate details of the day. Those included some incredible and beautiful DIY programs, invitations, table numbers and tons of fun little pieces made by the couple.
Detail was a big part of their day, and I always try to capture those sweet, precious pieces of a client’s day. That included a custom leather watch to include Adam’s grandfather and a keepsake veil that’s been passed through Alex’s family.
Makeup by Sarah Koblitz, my talented sister, spent her time glamming up the women while Alex’s mom and aunt helped the bride prepare.
Alex opted into a first look with her father, and that was a tender moment too. After getting a first look at his mother’s wedding last year, Adam returned the favor for his mom also.
The first look for the couple featured laughs, tears and sweet, tender looks as they read personal vows to each other. Adam shed tears throughout most of the day, and this moment was no exception.
A time that got me emotional was watching the couple read private letters to each other before the ceremony. This also helped us knock out as many portraits as possible to keep them partying after the ceremony.
The couple has been clients of mine since their winter engagement shoot two years ago (check out that blog here), and we’ve become really great friends since.
It was a warm October day with temps in the 70s and lots of sun, and I was extra excited for this one thanks to the friendship Ben and I have built with the couple.
The couple purchased an extra hour with our wedding package to have us there for all the big moments. I am always willing to modify packages if possible and work with clients to make sure I’m there to capture the moments that mean the most to them.
When it was time to get married, the tears kept falling—and never really stopped—from Adam as he watched his beautiful wife walk down the aisle.
Adam and Alex are big beer connoisseurs, and everyone walking into the wedding picked up a custom glass filled with beer brewed by Adam. They shared a ‘Cheers!’ when the couple got married. That brought a really fun and personal touch for us to capture.
Family traveled from all over. Alex and Adam wanted pictures with everyone together, and we made it happen!
The grandmas holding hands shortly after meeting was way too cute. That picture got me smiling instantly.
The bridal party was quick and simple to photograph and they wanted to get to cocktail hour, but we still gave them lots of options. Because it was fall, we got this incredible golden hour glow setting that we took advantage of.
By being directive and managing that time, I was able to give them lots of photo options and move quickly.
Then it was time for delicious food and lots of beer and wine to go with love, laughter, snuggles and speeches. There was no limit to the sweet words that were shared about the couple.
We really have become great friends with Alex and Adam, so I feel so blessed that we could be there. We even had to sneak in a photo together. This couple had an incredible day thanks to tons of hard work by them and their many vendors, and I am so thankful that they trusted me to be their photographer and now their friend.
The couple ordered a huge album of pictures they love, and they have plans for canvases and wall prints, too. I’m always excited to see what pictures stand out to clients and offer my expertise there, which includes layout options and making it cohesive.
