Stunning Stoney Creek Wedding!

The only words I can think of when I think about photographing Emily and Jacob’s wedding are PURE JOY. The love between these two is honestly beautiful. I can tell that they really cherish the company that each brings to the other. Stoney Creek Hotel and Conference center had the most perfect venue for these two; from the beautiful rustic fireplace inside to the wonderful tall grass outside. Emily and Jacob really embellished the look with beautiful wild flowers, but most importantly, with the love of their friends and family. The atmosphere they created was one that is hard to replicate.

What I Loved About the Day

When I first met Emily there was an instant bond between us. We had so much fun getting to know each other. I knew we were a perfect fit; I was so honored that she chose me to photograph the most important day to her and Jacob! What I didn’t realize was that EVERYONE at their wedding was going to be just as amazing as these two! Ben and I definitely felt the love!

I witnessed so many heartfelt things at this celebration, but one of the most memorable was when Jacob and Emily, and their mothers, watered a tree during the ceremony that contained soil from both households. Not only did the watering of the tree represent the two families joining together, but now Emily & Jacob will be able to watch this tree grow as their marriage and family also grows and changes over the years. Also, their guest book was a swing made of wood from Emily’s grandfather’s land. I was so in love with this idea!

And. . . the most sentimental thing of all . . . Jacob’s mother and Emily’s mother both gave speeches that left everyone in the room in tears. It was like nothing else existed but the honest words that they shared with the happy newlyweds. Emily’s mom read passages from Emily’s late father’s journal, and she then gave Emily & Jacob a journal of their own to start documenting their life together (I was CRYING behind my camera!)

Sometimes it’s really easy to get caught up in buying a beautiful, expensive dress, or finding the perfect, most elegant decorations, but ultimately the sentimentality of being with the ones you love and joining two amazing people together in marriage is really what a wedding day is all about. I’m so happy I was able to capture these moments for this couple. I loved the atmosphere of this wedding and the people that were there. Emily and Jacob were adamant about having enough time for portraits of just the two of them, and the portraits show their affection, appreciation, and devotion to each other.
