LA CROSSE, WISCONSIN WEDDING AT MOXIE’S
I was looking forward to Mandi and Albie’s wedding for so long! After months of planning (and re-planning), decision making, and shear anticipation, it was finally the big day! The couple spent their day inside and even outside Moxie’s/AmericInn in La Crosse. The spacious rooms along the Mississippi River were perfect for getting ready. Just feet from the suites, was the outdoor ceremony overlooking the beach and water. The weather was super sunny and warm, exactly what you’d expect for a summer wedding in Wisconsin. Close family and friends gathered to watch these two wonderful people become one family.
THE COUPLE
Mandi originally met me after being referred by a past bride. It is always so flattering to know that people are saying positive things about me and my work! I remember hosting her and Albi in my office. We talked way too long about all sorts of things other than wedding planning. I knew that night that we would be friends. 🙂 See, Mandi is focussed and decisive and super easy to talk with. Albie is super goofy, sweet as pie, and crazy in love with Mandi. Together, with their little dog Chippy, they make the perfect family. It is so obvious to see that they are in love with their whole hearts. I had the best time watching them interact and care for each other during their engagement session and again at the wedding.
THE LOOK
The color palette consisted of blush/rosey pinks, navy, and hints of silver. The wedding decor was simple, leading all eyes to the bride, groom, and wedding party. Their navy suits and blush dresses popped against the sand during the ceremony and the walls of the reception hall.
Mandi wore a beautiful bright white gown with silver accessories and a soft romantic veil. Her necklace, bracelet, and photos in her bouquet were all incredibly important to her. When I asked Mandi what she wa looking forward to most, she said “sharing the moment with the people who are in attendance….physically and spiritually.” She brought the love and memory of the people in attendance spiritually with her accessories as well as her words, and a memorial table.
Albie is a guy with style! He looked incredible in his three piece navy suit. I especially loved his white tie. to coordinate with Mandi. Albie is super sentimental and also wanted to honor family members that had passed. His boutonniere had custom pins with photographs of his mother and niece. How touching! I know they were smiling on him from heaven.
Finally, I feel like we need to talk about Chippy’s outfit. Yes, you read that right. Chippy looked impeccable in his tux complete with top hat. 😉
A FOCUS ON PHOTOGRAPHY
Photos are super important to the couple. They had small photos on their outfits, and they also displayed photos around the reception. They ordered a custom guestbook from me after their engagement session. It was really cool to see it at the reception full of well wishes!
A professional photographer to capture the whole day was a top priority for the couple. They wanted a photographer to not only take photos, but to guide them, their bridal party, and family. I had a great time explaining flattering poses and prompting them all to get “snuggly” close and to flash me their best smiles. You’ll see all their joy in the photos below. I pay an extreme amount of details to how people look in the photos I take. I made sure everyone was comfortable and having a good time getting their portraits taken.
Before we left for the night, Mandi and Albie handed Ben and me our own “thank you” gifts. They were custom tumblers with our names! Isn’t that cool? Fun fact: we love stopping at McDonald’s for Large Diet Cokes on the way home from weddings. The tumblers they gave us hold our LDC’s perfectly. It was so special that they thought of us so fondly!
TO THE NEWLYWEDS
Mr. & Mrs. McKinney, thank you again for trusting me, loving me, and showing me so much kindness. You along with your families are super examples of Christian love. The light you shine into the world impacts so many people, believe me. Keep your heads up and your hearts full. You are doing great!
